Mythic City Comics

Welcome to my first ever Mythic City Comics cover.  Obviously, MC is an underground comic with low production values.  I’ll see about making some of the later issues look a little nicer.  (And maybe some of the earlier ones, too.  I have a rough sketch for Handmaiden of Hell)

Change.

Everything changes.  Change must come from within.  One person can change the world.  The more things change, the more they stay the same.  Keep the change.

Okay, the last one doesn’t really fit in.

Change is what led me to the River.  The world changed and made me wonder about changing my place in it.  I saw the world around me changing in ways I didn’t like, and not in ways I did.  My efforts to preserve humanity weren’t enough.  At best I could fight a holding action, and lose a little more with each engagement.  I’m still trying to change that.  There are a lot of good people in the world, all wrapped up in their own affairs.  If they could act in concert – if WE could act in concert – we’d be so much more powerful than we are individually.  But that will take a long time.  Years.  Maybe my whole life.  In the meantime, I can try to build a better world, a little bit at a time.

Xian Li’s Journal #1

A gift arrived in the mail today from Delia, this book. It’s really cool, hand-bound with hand-slit pages, so they’re all uneven on the edges, and a water colored cover. (Appropriate, no?) Inside was a note written in her hyper-neat handwriting that said “You are on a journey, Red Feather. Keep a record of your travels.”

That’s what we in the apprentice business call a clear instruction. It’s one that makes me a little nervous, since a lot of what I do is stuff that Sleepers don’t need to know about, and that could be used as evidence in a criminal trial.

But usually, Delia gets what she wants, and I am on a journey, and I should start talking about it at the beginning. I’ve never been able to explain exactly why I’m doing this – abandoning goals I’ve had for my whole life and changing who I am at the core.

Brigid’s Journal Entry #1

It has been a long time since I have written in a journal. Years have passed since I even opened the book. My last entry was just before we went to find Rodney’s niece and nephew.

So many things have happened since then. Rescuing Katharina and then losing Nico to that place. I still love him, and miss him, but the man he was is gone. He was gone when she brought him back as a vampyre. The last time I was with Lance still brings a smile to my face. Not suitable as a mate for me now, but still fun.

We lost Cass, but she returned as Cassie. Then we lost Cassie, only to discover she was a thing, something created to fool us. I accepted Cassie without question. I feel a bit guilty about that. We’d been told that Oberon refused to allow her to die, but in saving her he had to change her. It made sense to me, because I know how reincarnation and resurrection can changes you. When Cassie was destroyed, trying to unmake that artifact, I accepted it. Continue reading Brigid’s Journal Entry #1

Timeline: February 8, 2008

I’m using an iPod with a microphone to record my thoughts here. Tara gave me this as a gift since she got a new one for herself, one of those iPod Touch numbers. I wonder if it’s a bad idea to keep it in my little hollow? Well, we’ll see.

Tonight is my second court and I’m scared to death. I mean, I’ve been back from that hell-hole, Arcadia, for what? 9 weeks now? And now I have to worry about everyone? I feel like I barely managed to take care of myself, escaping from Him.

Of course, it’s the most awesome thing in the world to have found my friends again. I wake up each morning and give thanks (well, in my head anyway) that they are all okay. I don’t know what I would have done if I’d made it back and found out they weren’t okay. Oh wait. If they weren’t okay, I’d never have found my way back home.
