Pirate Attacks on Arcanum Soil, Navy Confirms New Tactics

Day 269 of the Year of the Dragon

Citizens were rocked today by a pirate attack on the Northern Shores of Arcanum Draconis during the mid-day hour.  Dragoneer guardsmen were quick to respond to the threat, along with a group of brave first responders led by the Regent herself.  While the incident was contained in expediently citizens are still expressing grave concern as to if this is only the first of such attacks due to occur with the rising number of pirate sitings in the area.

“It was loud,” said local miller Gara Crays. “After that first loud sound, we had heard all the way from the market center, we all were just shocked and had no clue what was going on.  The guards just kept shuffling us to take shelter.  The whole thing was surreal.”

“I wasn’t worried at all,” recalled blacksmith’s apprentice Jacob Runehammer.  “I saw the guards responding fast.  All the women around were panicking heavily and I just kept pointing out to the guards responding as fast as they did going ‘Look there ladies!  They’ve got it under control!’  I love the Dragoneers, they’re doing a hell of a job!”

While neither the head of the Dragoneers or Commander Fontenot of the Navy were immediately available for comment on the incident a report was released from the Office of the Military stating that they were investigating a device the pirates had used to circumvent the defenses of Arcanum and new possibilities to combat this threat were now being considered.

In the meantime, a general order was released from the regent herself ordering the mobilization of the fleet of Arcanum that was not actively protecting its shores, to include the ARA Skydragon.  This marks the first such mobilization of Arcanum’s Naval might since the inception of the fleet.  Shipyard production was also advised to increase its rate of building to accommodate the construction of more ships for the fleet, possibly in anticipation of further attacks.  More on this as it develops.
