The Isle of Chronus

On a planet called Ilos near the major continent of Tragada sits a hushed island chain mired in a shroud of heavily impassable mists and swirling water eddies called the Isle of Chronus.  A location that exists outside of the normal flow of time, it is home to the city of Arcanum Draconis.  Here you will find all walks of life.  Humans, Dragons, Elves, Dwarves, training in various disciplines from the  Path of Warriors, Arcanists, Shopkeepers, even crews and captains of mighty Airships.

Created as a sanctuary of light, Arcanum is controlled by the Grand Arcanist of the 30th Circle, Lady Kinjita Savanos Karedric, and her royal court which was presided over previously by her late husband the Draconic Regent Ciar Adamyr Karedric.

Nestled on an island chain between the two great continents of Melir and Tragada, Arcanum remains neutral to the world around them though maintains a relationship of common trade with the nations of Brithmus and Valtur on the nearer continent of Tragada to the West.  The remaining tribal nations of Tragada are often locked within their own borders, the people of Enris, Traebe and Shoru often never leaving their territories.  When they do it’s a rare sight indeed

To the East in Melir however, lies a trio of nations ground in a bitter conflict.  Nox-Para, holding one of the most powerful land armies, vies against the combined forces of Empheris and Reigana, who both protect fiercely the World Tree of the planet.

Because of trade between the major powers of the continents of Tragada and Melir, the trade lanes that pass near the Isle of Chronus are often plagued by a fierce and often stalwart foe, The Sky Pirates of Ciris.  Not often caring what flag a ship or airship, takes to they attack without warning and take what they wish, often leaving the crews of these ships swimming for the shores of Arcanum without choice.

General Rules:

1) Black Powder has no effect on Chronus, so standard guns and cannons will not operate.

2) All Magic Users are required to register with the Arcanum with the Queen Kinjita Savanos.  Unregistered magic users will be silenced.

3) Arcanum resides in a location that allowed certain steam technologies to develop quickly in a Medieval/Renaissance setting.   Airships and modified projectile weapons are prevalent, but those modified weapons tend to be rare outside the military of Arcanum or the Sky Pirates that seem to have developed that technology or stolen it from others.

4) Anyone claiming to own an airship should register with the city immediately.  Independent airships are heavily regulated and often will be met with taxation at the docks to supplement the region’s income.
