Pride of Night Crew Decimated by Parahelian Construct

Day 74 of the Year of the Fox

Amidst the patrols of Arcanum Airships a disaster has struck one of the crews coming from Melir with Archaeological finds from Empheris. The A.R.A. Pride of Night which was due back for routine patrol in the Northern Seas had recently come from Melir with a load of cargo from a recent Archaeological dig in Empheris when it had received orders to resume its normal patrol of the Northern border before proceeding back to Arcanum Draconis.

“She was overdue,” said Lieutenant Archwall of the Arcanum Navy in an interview. “When the Admiralty grew concerned I brought the matter to the Regent. I was impressed with how quick she took action.”

Within minutes of receiving the information, the Regent and a party consisting of Duchess Kayasha and the Giant Warrior Nora set out to investigate aboard the A.R.A. Skydragon, the first time the ship has been used in such an endeavor since her christening. What they found on board the Pride of Night, adrift in the air Northern Seas, was devastating.

Crewman Jora Rachim recounts what she saw. “Devastation,” she started, holding back tears during the interview. “Every single person aboard had been mangled by that…Thing. I never knew ancient constructs like that could be so dangerous…”

Though not immediately available for comment the Regent did release a statement. “Our Navy, and the Officers and Enlisted members who serve within it, are the lifeblood of our defense. When a ship goes missing it is of grave concern for us in Royalty because it means that a part of what protects our people is not present. It was my duty, as Regent, to see to it that such an incident is responded to quickly and efficiently. Our hearts go to the families of the naval airmen lost this day and we will remember their sacrifice in the name of duty. A memorial service will be held once we have had time to address respects for our honored dead. I am told that Captain Lovis of the Pride of Night has a son within the Navy currently serving aboard the A.R.A. Crimson Hawk. I’ve sent one of our Scout Ships to retrieve him and bring him home. We value family in Arcanum and no-one, despite their duties, should be forced not to be present when such circumstances occur.”

Arcanum Scholars are looking over the wreckage of the Parahelian Construct to determine how it was it activated on its own amidst the cargo of the Pride of Night. We will keep you updated as best we can when news comes our way.
