The United Federation of Planets was always founded on the principles of understanding and knowledge throughout the universe and the core belief that all races can be united in peace. Since it’s inception in the late portions of the 22nd Century, after the missions of Johnathan Archer and the crew of the NX-01, the Federation quickly began to realize that immediate peace and understanding was not always achievable. Starfleet, the core organization of the Federation, created starships to traverse the galaxy and to defend it’s citizen races.
By the early 24th Century, with an understanding between all races of the Alpha Quadrant and an uneasy peace being had, Starfleet began to return once again to it’s roots. Exploration. The 47th Fleet Armstrong was originally drafted as a unique combat-ready fleet capable of handling the most troublesome worries of the Federation. With those threats now abated, Starfleet felt it best to renumber the fleet. We now look to a new frontier as a restructured 331st Expeditionary Fleet. With a base located deep in the Alpha Quadrant sectors past the Breen, their primary goal is one the Federation was founded upon. Seek out strange, new worlds. Explore space.
