Background Story: Born in the NY spacedock while her mother was on shore-leave, Palmira elle Yasra-Manaf spent all of two days on Earth before her mother had them both transferred back to her ship’s (the XCV Phira) medical care. Once on board, the private research vessel left Terran space and Palmira would not return until she entered Starfleet’s Academy.

The Phira is a vessel of 300 mixed species crew, and it is there that Palmira grew up until the Phira had an encounter with the Ferengi who went by the name of Lyr. The ship had been in need of new, specialized research technologies and reluctantly did business with Lyr to acquire those technologies without interrupting their missions. The young Palmira watched these proceedings and found, much to the consternation of the entire crew, the business of business to be a calling of a sort. She then spent the rest of the deal questioning the Ferengi, paying his “fees” with novel bits of technology she had created herself.

It was at the conclusion of the deal did her parents and Lyr discover the questioning was not the sum of her interest in business. They discovered this when Lyr called them in a rage two hours after departure, and Palmira was in the background of the visual. At the end of the 8 hour call, Lyr found himself with an apprentice and Palmira bid farewell to her parents and the Phira’s crew.

Palmira remained in Lyr’s teachings for several years, paying her way with various patents on technologies she invented, and called Ferenginar home until her “graduation thesis.” The Rolling Times of 2400, the period of extreme economic instability and cascading, is attributed to Palmira elle Yasra-Manaf due to the astronomical increase in wealth she saw during this period and the fact her master Lyr recovered at a profit from the instability; however, no official condemnation has been leveled.

After the Rolling Times, Palmira left Ferenginar and Lyr for Starfleet, where she was accepted into the Scientific track due to her testing results and proof that the patents she presented were truly hers. She graduated from Starfleet 2402 and was then posted on the U.S.S. Phantasma, with her record becoming clouded after this. It is known she served on the Phantasma for a time, but not in what capacity. It is also known she continued her education intermittently with the Institute for Unauthorized Experiments, and procured a mastery there in 2404. What happened beyond this is unknown to any public searching, with Starfleet personnel having access to the block labeled CLASSIFIED.

Personality Profile: Palmira is a very calm individual, and those that have experience with Vulcans will find similarities between her and the logic-driven species. However, in contrast to “Vulcan aloofness,” she is closer to “blank” and “faintly puzzled.” She is also possessed of near boundless curiosity and very little restraint or sense of limits. Such qualities are found predominantly in her work in the labs, and have seen multiple experiments that skirt or accidentally flout Starfleet regulations.

Due to her unconventional childhood her knowledge of social rules and interaction is amazingly substandard, leading to truly phenomenal displays of rudeness of second-hand embarrassment. The rudeness is not intentional, and she will apologize if informed she was being rude, but the fact remains her frankness combined with her social ignorance can make for explosive incidents. It is recommended to the extreme that she not be allowed to handle anything in the diplomatic field.

Physical Profile: Slightly above average height for a human woman, she is willowy and slight. Most curiously, her nails are closer to claws than her ancestry would suggest.

Special Notes: Palmira elle Yasra-Manaf has notes in her file requesting that any calls from the Vulcan Science Academy in regards to her be denied or redirected, citing that there is a “feud” between them after a “Non-Euclidean Paradox incident.” She also has several notes regarding the Ferengi Alliance, with the Ferengi named Lyr being the sole exception. Investigation into the XCV Phira revealed its crew to be comprised of “dangerously intelligent” individuals who were deemed too “advanced” for the Institute for Unauthorized Experiments. Currently the whereabouts of the Phira is unknown, and Starfleet is to passively monitor elle Yasra-Manaf’s communiques for any attempts by the Phira to contact her.
