Temple Knights of Illuminatus

Mandate: To preserve the Integrity of Vanquished Illusions.
The Temple Knights are volunteers and hand picked members of VI that show exemplary commitment to VI and it’s goals of moral integrity. Their sense of duty is unquestionable.

As is their commitment to protect the High Lady herself and to act as her bodyguard and as her eyes, ears, and hands when she cannot be personally present.

Temple Knights are never Lords of Houses, who have other commitments. But they can be Knights, Masters, or Magisters. (Padawans can be trained by Temple Knights but they are not yet experienced enough to become Temple Knights until they have at least reached Knight status.)

Authority
In order to uphold their mandate, Temple Knights have the authority to detain those who have grievously violated the integrity of VI. Torturing captives, committing treason (which can include the crime of assaulting other members of VI), and committing crimes that can directly affect the reputation of VI are all specific areas in which the Temple Knights have authority.

When acting to protect the integrity of VI, the Temple Knights are extended the authority of the High Lady and can detain violators and even abort missions that present a threat to the reputation or integrity of VI*. They are not judge or executioners, but leave this task to the High Lady herself.

*For example, a Temple Knight learns of a mission to publicly assassinate a number of politicians. Given this action would paint VI in a negative light, a Temple Knight that discovers it can intervene, abort the mission, and incarcerate the mission organizer, regardless what House may or may not have ordered the mission.

Temple Knights must exemplify the finest qualities of VI. The High Lady may judge Temple Knights who fail VI more harshly than any other VI member exactly because of the power and respect Temple Knights hold.
