    Vanquished Illusions Security Briefing

by Temple Knight Isolte, Security Specialist.

A transmission was sent late in the night of February 16. The Eternity recorded the following by Temple Knight Aysha Shiba Melantha:

*comm static, difficulty breathing* “Tell Kaigami… I’m sorry… I tried-” *comms go dead*

Eternity security has cleaned up the transmission as much as possible, producing the following message:

“This is [difficult drawn breath] Temple Knight Aysha. [pained breathing] Tell Kaigami [garbled — possible “I love him”]. I’m sorry [more struggle to breathe] I tried-“

The message is cut off here, but there is indication she meant to say more. The transmission is fragmentary and damaged, but based on the Holonet routers it passed through, it can be narrowed down to the planet Archimedis. Due to battle damage to communications systems, more accurate data is lost.

The current ruling house of Archimedis is House Shiba. The head of the House is current VI Knight Commander Kaigami, who is married to Knight Captain Aysha Shiba. The Knight Commander is currently missing. Communications with House Shiba in general is in disarray following a crushing defeat at the hands of a rebel house under the control of Shasta Strife.

Temple Knights Gwain and Tristan have reported from Archimedis, having volunteered to assist in the latest engagement. Although wounded and removed from the battlefield, they have confirmed that the KC is missing following a crushing defeat of the Shiba coalition army after encountering deadly, modified creatures that halted the Shiba advance and signaled a sweeping counterattack by Strife forces.

The Knights Gwain and Tristan have confirmed Kaigami’s status.

Knight Captain Aysha was not with Kaigami at the time of the defeat per the demands of concerned Houses loyal to Shiba. They were afraid of losing both leaders should something go wrong. Gwain and Tristan also confirm that Knight Captain Aysha, upon hearing reports her husband had been captured, left the House Shiba sanctuary with her padawan Ayano on a rescue mission. House Shiba personnel and leaders were unable to stop her launching what some deemed an unwise rescue attempt.

It was confirmed only an hour after Aysha and Ayano’s departure that the reports of Kaigami’s capture had been falsified.

Ayano returned, having suffered serious injuries at the hands of Shasta himself. She claims Aysha threw her out of a window at Shasta’s palace in an attempt to save her being captured, but her master did not follow her. Aysha’s final message on VI comms occurred minutes later.

The current statuses of both Kaigami and Aysha are unknown.

    Lumiani paced her chambers pensively.

It had been over two weeks now since her Knight Commander Kaigmai and Knight Captain Aysha disappeared. It was a long time for anyone to be caught behind enemy lines. It was a long time for someone to be missing.

Knight Gwain had unhelpfully mentioned that after the initial 48 hours, chances of survival dropped dramatically in either case.

But the status of Archimedes was still unclear. Had Kaigami’s homeworld fallen to the usurper Shasta Strife? His House Shiba forces had been decimated and were still recovering. They seemed to expect a major attack by House Shiba on their stronghold at any time. But it had not yet come.

Nothing she did seemed to make the matter more clear. She knew one of them was in terrible pain. At least they were alive… somewhere.

Lumiani balled her fists in frustration. She yearned to go to that planet in force and in person. But without knowing where Kaigami and Aysha were, that could do more harm than good.

And so, there was this waiting game to gain more information. But would Shasta move to destroy House Shiba before they could locate the world’s missing king and queen?
