    My Fellow Jedi,

In an effort to streamline our Jedi Trials and make it so that certain things are assured when performing the trials I am posting what is going to be expected from the Masters as they perform trials for their Padawan learners.

In the standard set of trials as dictated by the Jedi Order on Tython, the trials consist of teamwork, isolation, fear, anger, betrayal, focus, instinct, forgiveness, protection.  These were the listed trials of the Order as dictated.

For our purposes, some of these requirements can either be streamlined or combined to make it so that these requirements can be met with less confusion and more efficiency.  Here are the guidelines:

Masters:  Before administering your trials and during your training of your Padawans, you should have an idea of your Padawan learner’s past.  This should consist of their hopes, fears and ambitions so as to develop a well-rounded trial that can encompass the criteria listed for the trials below.

    Types of Trials:

The Trial of Body-  This trial will focus on overcoming matters of physical pain and discomfort as well as test the physical abilities of the Padawan Learner.  This should be administered under observed conditions to make sure the Padawan is not permanently injured during the trial.  The trial should consist of testing the abilities of the Padawan while overcoming some form of physical discomfort.

The Trial of Mind- This trial will focus on overcoming matters of emotional stress while testing the mental fortitude of the Padawan Learner.  This trial should entail tests of overcoming fear, hatred, anger, and mental suffering while testing the mental capabilities of the Padawan Learner in the ways of the Force.  Masters should try to base this trial on something from the Padawan’s past.

The Trial of Spirit- This trial will focus on the Padawan’s belief in the Force and how strong their connection remains when faced with a crisis of spirit.  This trial more directly focuses on the Padawan’s adherence to the Jedi Code while also testing the courage of the Padawan Learner in the task at hand.

    Our Trials:

Each trial does not have to be tested separately and can be summarized into a single test of some sort.  That test, however, should encompass the goals laid out in all three trials listed above.  Masters should speak with Magister Kinjita, or any other Magister if she is not available, within the order to approve the trial itself before administering it.  It is expected that a Magister of any kind be on hand to judge the trials themselves to provide for an unbiased source to judge the Padawan’s capabilities.

If the Magister finds that the Padawan Learner passes the trials then the Learner will be inducted into the Order during the Knighting Ceremony held at the start of Jedi Council Meetings.

If the Magister finds that the Padawan Learner fails the trial, the Master may apply once to re-train the learner and re-administer a new trial at a later date during the next Council Session, or by courier message when appropriate.

If, at any time during a trial, a Magister finds that the Padawan Learner has broken a portion of the Jedi Code, or has succumbed to the temptations of the Dark Side so much that they cannot be redeemed or are a danger to themselves or others, they have the authority to fail the Padawan and remove them from service within the Order.
