After action report: Tatooine assault

As a result of the court-martial of Captain Moreanton, it has become necessary to provide a declassified synopsis of the events leading to this Legal action, as well as a summary of the actions of Captain Moreanton and his Special Operations unit, designated “Demon Squad”

Demon Squad was deployed on Tatooine in order to execute a surgical strike on certain high value targets, deemed a threat to the Republic. Orders were to eliminate all traces of the Targets and prevent their reconstruction, as well as minimize republic losses.

Demon squad was inserted via drop ship at an undisclosed location somewhere in the Dune Sea, they were equipped with a Standard spec-ops load out, including standard issue blaster rifles, emergency rations, and communications equipment. Additionally the Squad was outfitted with 5 Fusion-core Demolition charges, the squads trademark “Predator” helmets, which house various specialized optics systems, as well as a tactical information HUD, and Captain Moreanton’s Thunderburst Dual-Cannon . Command for the Operation was executed from aboard the Revenant, a Valor class cruiser in orbit. Captain Moreanton was given command of his squad, and reported directly to Commander Ser’ Torek.

In preparation of their strike, Demon Squad, comprised of 5 members including Captain Moreanton, separated into two units, the first including Captain Moreanton, Specialist Gavon, and Private Hanson, established a base camp, while Lieutenant Torél and Specialist Moore began reconnaissance on the target. During their observation, They were attacked by a band of Tuscan Raiders. A short firefight insued, and 3 Tuscan Raiders were killed, while Lieutenant Torél and Specialist Moore were captured and brought to the Raider’s enclave to be used as slaves. Specialist Moore had received a serious head injury in the battle, and was in need of Medical attention.

When Lieutenant Torél missed his scheduled check in, the remaining members of Demon Squad moved to their last known position, and found evidence of the firefight. The immediately began following the Bantha tracks to locate their men, and within a few hours had reached the Enclave. Any scouting parties of Tuscan Raiders that the unit encountered were eliminated with Extreme Prejudice. Once at the Enclave, the members of the team once again divided. Specialist Gavon, and Private Hansen were ordered to create a small embankment at the top of a Dune overlooking the enclave, and begin firing on the Raider’s Guardsmen, while Captain Moreanton took advantage of the chaos to infiltrate into the enclave. He subdued any remaining guardsmen that had not been drawn towards the small fire team, eventually reaching the central chamber of the Enclave. At which point he fired on and killed the Chieftain, and planted one of the Squads Fusion-core demolition devices in the center of the Enclave. He then found the Slave quarters, and extracted Lieutenant Torél and Specialist Moore.

After Rendesvouing with Gavon and Hanson, Captain Moreanton Detonated the Charge, destroying the Enclave. His squad continued to Fire on survivors until they had been entirely eliminated. Demon Squad then returned to Base Camp, and administered first aid to Specialist Moore, stabilizing him. Captain Moreanton then left Specialist Gavon with Moore as security, while he, Torél, and Hanson assaulted the Facility housing the Primary target. They cut through their defenses and made their way to the Reactor core of the facility, and set the remaining demolitions charges around the perimeter. They then moved to the Information control center, and Lieutenant Torél sliced the data consoles to wipe the memory banks. They then Exfiltrated the facility, and detonated the charges. The Blast radius exceeded the area of the facility, and no survivors have been found.

While the mission was successful, Captain Moreanton’s heavy handed tactics and Scorched Earth Policies intensified issues with the Tuscan Raiders. Several surrounding tribes interpreted the Captains strike on the Enclave a declaration of war, and the local settlements have been under heavy attack in the months since. Ambush strikes by raiders have increased by 40%, and several moisture farms have been overrun. This is not the first time that Captain Moreanton has acted without regard for innocents who may be affected by his actions, and a formal disciplinary committee will review his case.
