Unnamed NPCs include a large number of students, adepts, acolytes, warriors, brawlers and centurions. Non-Mandalorian contractors are rare and special. These are never NPCs. Unnamed Keepers are almost always Hapan. Non-Hapan Keepers are Player characters.

When using NPC Keepers you can find names of Hapan characters you can use as a model for new names on the Hapan page of Wookieepedia. Incidentally this page will provide you the history of Hapes Cluster, which is a great reference!

When using NPC Mandalorians, you can find names of Mando characters you can use as a model for new names on the Mandalorian page of Wookieepedia.

Force Techniques

Maeve’s guidance on the practices of Force-using members of the Keepers of Secrets are followed throughout the organization. They are detailed below.

Respecting the Force

One of the greatest failings of the great institutions of galaxy — namely the Jedi Order and the Sith — are that they treat the Force as a tool or a weapon. It is neither of these things. It is a gift. It is alive. It has a will, and if you listen, you can hear it’s whispers like faint songs that travel between the stars throughout the galaxy. Abusing the Force brings shame to yourself, and may one day induce the Force itself to desert you — as it does the Jedi and Sith. Such is the arrogance and abuse of the Force by Jedi and Sith that it is highly uncommon to see they fulfill the plan the Force wills. Instead so many of them ignore the Message, abuse the Force, and for that they die in violence. If you move in harmony with the will of the Force, you shall never fail. You shall never fall.

There are specific techniques forbidden to use. I want all members of the Keepers to know what they are and to avoid their use. Learn of them. Defend against them.

But do not bring shame to yourself or fall to arrogance by wielding the Force overtly. Techniques that are wasteful, pridefully ‘flashy’, or needlessly cruel warp the Force to your own will. Doing so will ultimately lead to your own downfall when the Force abandons you. Worse, you will likely drag all around you down into misery and death with you. Therefore, any Keeper wielding the following techniques will be banished from our order — or executed if the circumstance has caused the death of your fellow Keepers.

Banned Techniques include

  1. Force Lightning
  2. Use of Lightsabers
  3. Telekinesis (including using telekinesis to strangle or crush organs)
  4. Unnatural manipulation of biological life forms via Force-enabled alchemical reactions.

The Keepers have existed but a short time. But in that time we have already discovered powerful skills to counter the use of lightsabers and Force-abusing powers and proven them in the field.

Welcome to a new Path.

May the Mists part before your feet.

Greeting Message from Ducha Maeve

A message that appears on the datapad of all new students follows.

Welcome to the Keepers of Secrets.

If you have found your way here, you have joined a special, secret organization in which you can grow in knowledge, personal power, and wisdom. You may be adept in the use of the Force or a beginner, a Mandalorian commando,  or a contractor. Whatever your role, you are a valued membered of our team.

Our homeworld is Tarot IV, of the star system of the same name, nestled within the Transitory Mists that ring the Hapes star cluster. We are part of the glorious empire ruled by her Majesty, the Queen Mother. The borders of Hapes, and our beloved Tarot IV are closed to the galaxy at large. You, however, have the right and the freedom to travel to and from Tarot IV and the rest of the galaxy as part of a quest for knowledge. You may be the knowledge seeker, or you may be one who protects the seeker, or a contractor that aids the seeker in navigating the galaxy and finding what she seeks.

The Keepers are about the preservation of knowledge untainted by bias, superstition, or tradition. We are not Jedi nor Sith. We follow the destiny the Force has provided us, be it a dark and dangerous path, or one lit by light and knowledge. Knowledge is power. Whether you are a force adept, contractor or mandalorian, knowledge will make you stronger. It will break the bonds the galaxy has placed on you. And with it you can achieve greatness.

The Keepers will provide you the tools you need to enable your success. Together we shall lay the foundations for a new future untainted by the shadows of arrogant Jedi or treacherous Sith.
