Centuries ago, the lands of Elwynor were filled with wonders and magic. Mighty kingdoms grew, magic became as common as a steel blade at your hip. All was peaceful and prosperous. Then, as legend tells it, a mighty necromancer, who\u2019s name had been kept to a whisper, tried to claim the lands of Elwynor for himself. Vast was his goal that he needed powerful magic to help create the undead army he would need for such a conquest. The other kingdoms of Elwynor discovered this evil plan and formed an alliance to defeat him. But, in their haste to destroy him, they became part of what would become the breaking of magic itself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\tAll magic was powered by an energy known as the Auras. Auras was the power drawn from the flow of the natural world. Users of magic, of all vocations, learned to tap this Auras to power their magical might. On what would be known as \u201c The Day of Tears\u201d, the enormous use of magic on both sides caused a sudden disruption with the Auras! So great was this disruption, magic seamed to disappear! For casters of magic, they were suddenly left without magical abilities. For those crafters or wielders of magical items, they now held heavy mundane devices. And for those creatures whose natural state was to be connected to the Auras, they went into slumber. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\tFor decades, chaos consumed the lands as kingdoms who relied on magic for defense, found themselves defenseless. As the human, elf, and dwarven, kingdoms raged war for lands, they never noticed the effects it had on those creatures who were naturally connected to the Auras. The Mystical creatures of the world found the lands to be suddenly poisonous, or impossible to live in. So, for some they simply slumbered or passed away. For a few, their disconnection with the Auras became violent, causing a backlash of Destruction. And for a few, they quietly disappeared into tales and legend. Elwynor had become a land of transition and fire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\tOver the next few centuries, the remains of human civilization moved mostly to the southern lands, where the warm breeze and livable environment made life prosperous. For a scattering few, the northern lands became a place to harden their lives by surviving it\u2019s harsh wilds. Elwynor had become a place undiscovered and full of ancient history and lore. A land ready to be molded by the will of one, or many.
